Among the protagonists of the world of football sala there can only be a number one above all: Mattia De Simone, goalkeeper of the Italian men’s National team and Ispra Calcio 5. We retrace with him the emotions felt in Azzurro, but also memories and glories lived during a truly exceptional career.
How did you get into 5-a-side football?
“I approached football 5 more than 10 years ago when an executive saw me in a summer tournament”.
How difficult is the role of the goalkeeper?
“It is the most demanding role in this sport. We are always subject to mistakes and to try to make less and less mistakes”.
Your best skills?
“I think I am a very good goalkeeper to close the door mirror and read the actions in advance. Then with the passage of time I believe I have acquired an excellent individual technique”.
Do you have an idol?
“Stefano Mammarella. I was also lucky enough to meet him as an opponent, a humble person who built all his success on sacrifices and constant training”.
Your best match?
“No doubt, Napoli-Cisternino in Seria A 2018, where I was protagonist of a great performance that allowed my team to get points on a very difficult field”.
Just before the stop, the joy of the Winter Cup also arrived…
“It was a beautiful final, and it was my business card for those who still didn’t know my worth in FIFS. Then there is the Ispra company to thank for how they welcomed me and the least I could do was help them win”.
On your experience in the National team?
“Beautiful moment, singing the hymn and wearing the blue shirt. I hope to be back soon in a group that has welcomed me very well from day one”.
The most beautiful emotion?
“The debut obviously. I think I had a great match against Switzerland. I hope one day to participate in an international event”.
Goal for the future?
“I hope to continue writing important pages of my career and maybe win something with the National team”.
