Here’s the recap of the U21 National Team’s first day in Lloret de Mar.
After taking off in Malpensa Airport at 6.45, the Italian delegation landed in Spain at 8.05 at the El Prat airport in Barcelona.
The squad travelled by bus to Lloret de Mar, and went at once to the Pavillón El Molí to get acquainted with the field that will host all the matches. After lunch, the team had their first training session.
At 15.00, the opening ceremony took place to everyone’s enthusiasm, followed by the match between our next opponents Belgium and Catalunya. Against all predictions, the home team resisted their rivals also thanks to the attendance’s support. Scoring just before the end of the match, Catalunya managed to tie 3-3, although Belgium ended up winning at the penalty phase by a 6-5 margin.
Group A’s first match was played during the morning, Czech Republic beating Russia 4-3.
Once back to the hotel, the technical staff held one final roundup with all players to prepare for our debut, scheduled for tomorrow at 12.00 versus Catalunya.
